The Grain Bows – Ritual Lammas Box for High Summer

The Grain Bows – Ritual Lammas Box for High Summer
Lammas is the name given in parts of old England to the early grain harvest: loaves offered from the first sheaves, hands dusty with flour, and the scent of cut fields carried on warm wind. It’s the time when wheat bows heavy on the stalk, the fruits begin to flush with color, and when we feel both the fullness of what has grown and the first whisper that the light is turning.
This offering is made for that moment, an ode to High Summer.
Crafted on the island of Naxos, each item in this box is handmade with wild-foraged herbs, and unfiltered beeswax & oils from local hives & fields. The olive oil soap is made by my dear soap maker friend, Noctuas Valley, who creates the most magical, old world soaps using hand foraged botanicals and his own olive oil.
Inside the box:
– She Who Ripens – Ritual Body Oil
Infused with wild lavender, wormwood, & helichrysum and layered with a blend of essential oils that carry the warmth and clarity of midsummer, like clary sage, lavender & helichrysum. Made for ritual anointing, altar tending, and body prayer.
– The Blossom Gatherer – Fragranced Anointing Balm
A firm balm scented with geranium, frankincense, and lavender, carried in wild lavender and helichrysum infused oils and local beeswax. A ceremonial companion for pulse points, for offerings, or as a plant perfume.
– Mist of the Grain Mother – Organic hydrosol blend
Distilled in Greece in small batches and collected from a handful of makers whose quality I could trust. This is a high summer bouquet blend of organic rose geranium, lavender, mugwort, rose and jasmine flower waters. Pure plant water and spirit. Mist around body, in your space, over your bed before sleep, or in ritual.
– Cucumber, Mint & Juniper soap – Made by Noctuas Valley
A weighty bar of old-world small batch olive oil soap from our dear friend in the Peloponnese. Scented naturally with crushed cucumber and mint from his garden. Gentle, cooling, and fresh, perfect for the high heat of summers end.
– Naxian Sea Salt
A small glass vile collected by hand from the rock pools near my favorite sunset spot. For ritual circles, bath rites, or table — your choice.
– Smoke Offering
A small paper bag filled with ground frankincense, lavender leaf, rosemary, rose petals, and chamomile gathered & blended by hand. Comes with three charcoal discs for burning. This blends burns slow, & smoky and feels like an old ritual.
– Monastery Beeswax Candles
Three slender hand-dipped monastery tapers, made from unfiltered beeswax and collected from a Greek monastery in the mountains
– Temple of Demeter photograph
A printed image of the ancient temple on Naxos, where Demeter, our ancient grain mother, was honored. In her story, she teaches humanity to sow and reap, and she mourns the loss of her daughter. Her grief and her giving live side by side. You’ll receive a short written piece about her myth and her connection to the land and to the harvest.
– Ritual & information prints
Printed cards sharing more about Lammas and the First Harvest, as well as more information on each offering.
Please note: As this is my first offering on this new path I have made a very limited number of these boxes.
Optional add-ons:
These small-batch items were crafted alongside the Lammas Box but are offered separately. You can add them to your order and if any remain, I will offer them individually.
– Venus in Bear — ritual oil of forest & sky
A deeply fragrant anointing oil made with made with lavender, frankincense and mugwort infused oils, and scented with black pine, cedarwood, fir, clary sage, lavender and benzoin. It carries the feeling of a mountain night in summer: soft bark, resin, cool air, and the hush of stars. It was inspired by my longing for my homeland and by the essense of the she-bear. This oil was made in a batch of thirteen bottles and comes in a deep green glass bottle. Each bottle is paired with a small beeswax candle rolled in dried cedar.
– First Garden — Womb Balm
A rich olive oil, castor oil and beeswax-based balm infused with herbs that have been womens allies for millenia: lavender, mugwort and wormwood, with essential oils of clary sage, sweet marjoram, and lavender. It was made to support rituals of rest, reclamation, & connection to the womb space.
– Sunbitten Adornment — Ritual cave paint
A petite jar of crushed color made from natural red iron oxide (one of the most common pigments used by early humans for cave art) in a creamy base of cocoa butter, calendula infused almond oil and beeswax. The tone is a warm, semi-sheer soft sunset red that pulls semi coral.
A note about the ritual use of my products:
While we often think of it as a thing of the past, the suppression of traditional women's work: herbalism, midwifery, and other forms of earth-based care has never truly ended.
The fear of women working with plants, of ancestral knowledge, & of healing outside the system, is still very much alive.
Today, instead of burnings or bans, it shows up as red tape.
In places like the EU, it's often difficult for small herbalists to legally share handmade oils, balms, or mists without navigating regulations meant for mass-market cosmetics.
Because of this, everything I offer is for ritual use only – not for medical or cosmetic purposes.
But the heart of these simple infusions is the same as it's always been –since the first woman picked buds from a stem and sank them into golden oil for her family's care:
Women working with plants in reverence.
And like many before me, I offer them quietly, in small batches, to others - in spite of it all.
